BDR Partners has provided planning, programming, project management, and
staff extension services for over $400 million of capital projects, totaling more than 615,000 SF of space across Emory Healthcare’s multi-campus system. The central element of this program was a new bed tower expansion to increase inpatient beds, diagnostic, and treatment capacity for Emory Healthcare’s flagship hospital.

  • 232 new beds

  • One level of diagnostic, testing and support space

    • New inpatient food service capacity as well as Visitor and private staff dining

    • New loading dock and central receiving to support tower operations

    • Physical bridge and building connection to four existing buildings including hospital and clinic. As well as improved connectivity to staff parking

  • Future capacity for expanded perioperative platform connected via bridge system

  • Space integrated for teaching, staff education and research programs

  • Covered vehicular arrival plaza and new main hospital entrance above street lobby and bridge connections between clinic, hospital and parking decks

  • 500 space, four-level, below-grade parking deck

  • Associated infrastructure improvements including utility relocations

  • Integrated Central Energy Plant to service expansion and adjacent buildings

BDR successfully accrued over $14 million of savings from the original tower project, allowing for additional projects that are now ongoing throughout the new tower shell space and existing hospital.
